Cassopolis man killed in head-on crash, other driver airlifted from the scene

A Cassopolis man was killed in a head-on crash in Cass County Thursday morning.

Cass County Sheriff deputies say 67 year-old Richard Affriseo and a 19 year-old Cassoplis man collided shortly after 6:30 a.m. on M 60 just east of Gards Prairie Road.

The younger driver was airlifted to South Bend Memorial and his condition is not known.

Affriseo died at the scene. Neither man was wearing seatbelts, according to first responders.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
