A threat to the high school is the reason New Buffalo Area Schools were closed on Friday, April 22.

According to the FBI, specific threats were made on social media that appeared to detail threats against students and school activities.

District leaders learned of the threats early Friday morning and first issued a two-hour-delay so police K9s could sweep the school, but that ended up taking longer than expected, so they decided to close school for the entire day.

The FBI met with and interviewed the student who made the threat, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
