Some Michigan groups have missed an important deadline in their efforts to tighten voting laws and limit health orders.
Two Republican groups, Secure MI Vote and Unlock Michigan, missed their initial 180-day window to submit the 340,047 valid voter signatures. This was necessary to advance the initiatives to the GOP-led legislature, according to Bridge Michigan.
State law dictates that they can continue to gather signatures, but they will have to toss out the signatures they started collecting in October.
A spokesperson who works with both groups said the rough Michigan winter made the signature drive difficult.
