Officials in South Bend are investigating after a report of a student shooting at a school bus with a BB gun.

Coquillard Elementary School and the South Bend Empowerment Zone say it happened Tuesday afternoon when Bus #28 was dropping off students. Reportedly, a student shot at the rear window of the bus after exiting and a report was made to the police.

Three students were still on the bus. Wednesday morning the school’s social worker met with students to see if anyone needed support after the incident.

Indiana statutes will be followed in regards to any consequences and the school says student safety is a top priority. Parents were notified with a letter.
