Boy, 5, shot by relative on Woodbine Way passes away

The five-year-old boy who was shot by a nine-year-old relative, Saturday night, at a home on on Woodbine Way in South Bend, has died.

The boy is identified as Kyler Jackson.

He died shortly after 12 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4.

So far, police are not offering any specifics as to just what happened and there’s been no word of any charges. But questions remain as to how the relative got ahold of the gun, or whether any adults were around when the shooting happened.

Authorities have offered mental health services to the child involved, and the family, to help deal with the trauma.

There’s been no word on possible charges.
