Elkhart County Council members deny tax breaks to Steel Harbor L.L.C

They needed more time to review the request. That’s why Elkhart County Council members say they denied tax breaks to Steel Harbor L.L.C.

Steel Harbor wanted a five-year tax phase-in, arguing that their tax burden would eventually increase because of their takeover of nearby land.

However, The Elkhart Truth reports members voted four to three against the resolution.

They also report that Steel Harbor can resubmit an application for a future vote.
