A pastor is stepping down after admitting to his congregation Sunday to committing adultery.

In a video captured on Facebook Live, John Lowe II, a pastor at New Life Christian Church, told his congregation that he committed adultery nearly 20 years ago. After he spoke, a woman took the microphone claiming she was a victim of sexual assault. She said she was victimized by Lowe when she was 16.

“You did things to my teenage body that had never and should have never been done,” she said. “If you can’t admit to the truth, you have to answer to God. You are not the victim here.”

The woman said she’s had suicidal thoughts and has spent years feeling like a “horrible person”. She said the church deserves to know the truth and that it has been “built on lies”.

After she was done speaking, members of the congregation could be heard calling for Lowe to admit to what he had done.

Lowe eventually responded saying “I can’t do anything about that except to tell you, if I could go back and redo it all, I would. I can’t, and all I can do is ask for you to forgive me.”

The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to WANE 15 Monday that there is a pending investigation into the matter.
