Director of Indiana Department of Homeland Security to resign

The Director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security has turned in his resignation to Governor Holcomb.
Stephen Cox previously served as the state Fire Marshal and as Chief of the South Bend Fire Department before that.
Holcomb called Cox’s leadership at the helm during the pandemic was calm, thoughtful and deliberate. Holcomb says the agency distributed an unprecedented amount of protective equipment and supported emergency management services like never before while continuing public safety training and preparedness.
Cox’s last day as executive director is June 24.
The governor has named current Fire Marshal Joel Thacker to the post.
