A man was shot and killed in Elkhart.

Police were called around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, to the area of S. 6th St. and W. Cleveland Avenue where officers discovered a home in the 1700 block of S. 6th Street that had been damaged by apparent gunfire.

At that time, no injuries were reported.

Then, at around 11:50 p.m., dispatch received a call of an unknown medical situation regarding a man on the ground  in an alley in the 600 block of W. Cleveland Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found the man, unresponsive, suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). Keandre Marquez Baker, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation.
