Motorcyclist killed after hitting Topeka pothole

An 18-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was operating hit a pothole, causing him to lose control of the bike.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, in the 9400 block of West-700-South in Topeka.

The impact caused Joshua Schwartz to fall off the motorcycle. He received injuries to his head.

He died at the scene.

A second motorcyclist also hit the pothole, then fell of his bike, but he refused treatment at the hospital.

Police say the men were not wearing helmets.
