A man was arrested after gunfire damaged two homes in Elkhart.

It happened earlier this week, when police were called to a house on Eden Street, on reports of a shooter.

A group at the house told police that the man threw a firework across the street at their home and shot a handgun at them.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the house had damage on the siding, from the bullets.

Police found the suspect, 22-year-old Jonathan Massie, in a house on East Indiana Avenue.

Massie told police that his own house had been shot, so he was returning fire.

He was arrested and faces charges of criminal recklessness.
