A man was arrested after allegedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old.

It happened on Wednesday, when Mishawaka police were called to house on reports of sexual battery.

That’s where they found the suspect, 46-year-old Robert Peters, in the driveway.

Officials say that Peters originally gave them a false name and birth date, going on to say that he never touched the victim.

The woman living in the house told officials that she had invited Peters to stay with her, after meeting him online.

ABC 57 News reports that the victim told the woman Peters touched her, after a few nights of him being there.

Peters was arrested and charged with sexual battery, false informing, and child molesting.

He is due back in court on August 2.
