A man was arrested after being tackled at the scene of a crash he was allegedly trying to leave.

It happened early Sunday night when Elkhart Police were called to the intersection Princeton and Charles Street, on reports of a crash.

A witness says that the driver, 32-year-old Abimael Hernandez, hit a parked vehicle, continued driving, and then hit a second vehicle.

ABC 57 News reports that Hernandez tried to run from the scene, but was tackled to the ground until officials arrived.

He was arrested on charges of battery against a public safety official, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and leaving the scene of a crash.
