Three South Bend firefighters treated for heat-related injuries during blaze on SR 23

Three South Bend firefighters were treated for heat-related issues while fighting a fire in the 22000 block of State Road 23.

The blaze broke out around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8.

Crews arrived to find fire and heavy smoke coming from the structure.

Crew members were challenged due to the possibility of a structural collapse.

There were no civilian injuries reported.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
