An effort to stabilize the riverbank along the St. Joseph River is underway

An effort to stabilize the riverbank along the St. Joseph River is underway.
The project is centered on a steep, 45-foot-tall portion of the bank alongside Riverside Drive, south of Angela Boulevard.
The South Bend Tribune reports the slope’s incline will be re-designed to make it more gradual. A  trench will be dug along the length and filled with rocks up to the river’s high-water mark.
Funding for the more-than $800-thousand dollar project was made possible, in part, through the Indiana D-N-R and the Great Lakes Sediment and Nutrient Reduction Program grants.
The work should be finished by fall.
