The special election for the Second Congressional District will take place with the general election on Nov. 8. but who’s going to be on the ballot needs to be determined.
Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer has called two caucuses of eligible precinct committee members, on Aug. 20, to fill ballot vacancies for the upcoming special election and the upcoming general election.
Hupfer says though they’re still in shock by Walorski’s death, the state code requires them to move faster than they’d like.
Generally, the Indiana Republican Party would have 30 days to fill a ballot vacancy. However, in this instance, state code requires that a certificate of nomination be submitted to the Indiana Election Division by noon on Friday, August 26th. Ian Randall, MNC News.
The caucuses will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Grissom Middle School at 13881 Kern Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
