A proposal to fill an empty lot with housing may not happen in Elkhart.

Developers, Magnus Capital Partner and Anderson Partners Development, pitched proposals to make the development near the corner of Beardsley Avenue and Greenleaf Boulevard.

They said that both developments would fill the empty site with more than 100 townhomes, studios, and apartments.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the Redevelopment Commission paused the project, because it did not align with their vision.

The commission says that they will now work with the developers to create a better plan for the neighborhood.

Did they stop it because the homeowners didn’t want nearby apartments, or because the redevelopment commission wanted them to be HUD subsidized housing?
