Police in Michiana dealing with crashes

Police throughout Michiana have been dealing with several crashes in the past few days.

A 55-year-old man on a bicycle was hurt when Elkhart County Sheriff’s deputies say he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The collision happened just after 5 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, on County Road 45 and Sunnyside Avenue.

Investigators say the Elkhart man on the bike and the Nappanee man driving the Jeep both stated they did not see each other before the crash.

The bicyclist was taken to was Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of pain to his head and legs.

An 18-year-old Elkhart man on a motorcycle was injured after colliding with a vehicle.

It happened Wednesday evening, Aug. 10, on Old M-205 in Cass County.

Sheriff’s deputies say a Colorado man in a vehicle was making a left-turn onto Sandstone Drive when the motorcyclist tried to pass his vehicle as the driver was turning.

The motorcyclist was taken to Elkhart Hospital for treatment.

A man from Albion has been hospitalized in critical condition after his motorcycle smashed into a semi. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 10, in the area of M-66 and Bogen Road.

Authorities say the 50-year-old motorcyclist was driving south on the highway when a semi pulled out into the intersection.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
