One person was arrested after a call about gunshots being fired led to a standoff at River Pointe Apartments.
Mishawaka Police were called around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, to the complex, located off of Vistula Road, east of Bittersweet Road.  At that time responding officers did not locate anything and went back into service.
Officers were called back to the complex shortly after 9 p.m.  for another shots fired call.
Witness on scene directed officers to an apartment at 140 Bercado Circle.
As officers approached the apartment in question, a Hispanic opened the door.  This male had a handgun tucked in his waistband.  The male then shut the door after officers tried to have him leave the apartment.
Due to all of the circumstances involved, the St. Joseph County Metro SWAT Team was activated.  Nearby apartments were all evacuated.  The male refused to exit his apartment after negotiations were attempted.  He ultimately came out of his apartment after tear gas was fired into it.
He was arrested without further incident around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The male was interviewed by MPD detectives and was take to the St. Joseph County Jail.  Evidence was recovered at the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
