An Elkhart woman was traveling southbound on Decatur Road and proceeded to stop at the stop sign before entering the intersection while a Marcellus man was traveling westbound on Marcellus Highway. The Elkhart woman struck the Marcellus man’s vehicle, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

At the same time, a Three Rivers resident traveling eastbound on Marcellus Highway slowed at the intersection to make a right-hand turn and was struck by the other two vehicles, the sheriff’s officer reported.

All three drivers, and two passengers including a 16-year-old girl in the third vehicle, were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The Cass County Sheriff investigators say seatbelt use is unknown at this time, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
