Habitat for Humanity held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new home of Jamie Sorenson and her family on Thursday.

The house will be built with the help of the Building Construction Trade Program at Concord High School.

Sorenson has put in 200 hours for her home with the help of Lippert Care, who is sponsoring the building of the home.

Sorenson’s 200 hours include classes on financial management, budgeting, being a home owner and construction skills, as well as volunteer work in the community.

ABC 57 News reports that the Elkhart County home will be built by the 60 students in Concord’s trade program as part of the partnership between Habitat for Humanity and Concord High School.
