A 17-year-old boy guilty of attempted murder is now pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection with the same shooting incident.
It was back in December of 2020 when, according to court documents, Tayshawn Malczynski and Daniel Allen tried to rob Vincenzo Trozzy and a second person during a drug deal. Gunfire was exchanged. Trozzy was shot in the head and died and the person he was with was shot in the arm and survived.
The suspects, Malczynski and Allen, were arrested a couple of weeks later.
Though jurors found Malczynski guilty of attempted murder, the couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict regarding the charges of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, a judge accepted Malczynski’s plea to voluntary manslaughter. He’ll be sentenced in October.
Allen is charged with murder and is scheduled for a trial next month.
