A 59-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a van while standing on the side of a road in southwestern Michigan.

The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, on Mill Lake Road west of M-40 near Gobles.

Michigan State Police investigators say a Dodge Caravan was traveling westbound on Mill Lake and hit Dennis Hale, who was standing by his bicycle.

Hale died at the scene.

The driver of the Caravan suffered minor injuries.

Factors into the crash are still being investigated.
