Attempted robbery turns into a police chase in Elkhart County

Elkhart Police // Alyssa Foster

A man was arrested after an attempted gas station robbery in Elkhart.

It happened at 2 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, at the 1900 block of Cassopolis Street, when a silent alarm was activated.

An employee told officers that a man, 37-year-old James Davis, brought items to the counter, and then demanded money from the cash register.

ABC 57 News reports that the employee did not hand over the money, so Davis left and drove away.

Police found Davis on Cassopolis Street and tried to pull him over.

Instead of stopping, he drove to the woods, got out of his vehicle, and ran.

Davis was arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.

He faces charges of robbery, resisting law enforcement, and unlawful possession of a syringe.
