The man who police say shot at, but didn’t hit, an Indiana State Police excise officer in South Bend has been charged with attempted murder.
The shooting took place last week at Rockne Drive and North Jacob Street.
Ian Austin, 20, was also charged with attempted battery by means of a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness and a firearm enhancement.
If convicted on all charges and sentenced to the max, he could face up to 72 years in prison.
Austin is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
