South Bend Council passes budget

Smoother streets could be coming to South Bend, along with other benefits.

The common council passes the 2023 budget on Monday, October 9.

The budget will fully fund the mayors “Rebuilding Our Streets” plan and double the amount of money going to traffic calming.

The South Bend Police Department also got full funding for the next year, with part of the budget going toward covering costs for of new crime analysts.

It will also work to improve water and sewer infrastructure.
