Two people are hospitalized and one person was arrested after a shooting in South Bend.

Officers were called around 2 .m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, to the 100 block of E. Woodside Street on reports of a shooting.

Two victims, a male and female, were taken to the hospital and are both in stable condition.

Through an investigation and the processing of evidence by the Violent Crimes Unit, a suspect was identified, located and ultimately arrested.

The suspect, Byron Murray, Jr., 20, was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.

There was no immediate word about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The incident was one of 116 service calls, including several other firearm-related arrests and recoveries, that South Bend Police responded to during the early morning hours of Saturday.

  1. Another shooting in city limits. This time the south side. It’s usually the west side. Violent crime continues to rise. No matter…at least we are putting efforts into trans awareness month. Mayor Pete Jr, you’re doing a stellar job!
