The City of South Bend has reopened applications for its workforce development program Upskill SB, which targets jobseekers and recent graduates to earn industry-accredited certifications. The program contributes to the development and retention of talent by offering a variety of training options and covering certification costs.

Upskill SB, which launched earlier this year, had 25 cohort-learners go through the program in interest areas ranging from Information Technology and Project Management to Solar installation. Among those 25, six students are solar-installation learners sponsored by the Office of Sustainability, most of whom come from Crossroads Solar, an employer that hires people who were recently incarcerated.

Residents are eligible to apply if they hold a high school diploma or equivalent, live or work in South Bend, or are currently employed or actively seeking employment.

Those interested in learning more or applying for Upskill SB should visit www.southbendin.gov/upskillsb.
