Silver Alert issued for Garvin Roberson, brother of Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of Garvin Roberson, 70. Roberson is the brother of Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson.

Roberson is described as a black male, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 175 pounds, black hair with brown eyes, last seen wearing a gray half-zip pullover jacket, black basketball pants, and black tennis shoes, and driving a gray 2022 Honda CRV with Indiana license plate 653EKG

Garvin was last seen around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27. He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

If you have any information on Garvin Roberson, contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department or call 911. The Silver Alert was issued one day before Mayor Roberson was set to announce his re-election campaign. The Mayor’s campaign committee released the following statement:

I am sending this email to you to let you know we have postponed the event for Mayor Rod at the Lerner Crystal Ballroom for tomorrow evening, Nov. 29, at 5:00. Unfortunately, Mayor Rod’s brother, Garvin Roberson, is still missing, and circumstances have us all preoccupied at the moment. Another date will be set and I will send out information to you.
