Vandalia woman, 22, injured after swerving to avoid animal in road

A Vandalia woman swerved to avoid an animal in the road, but smashed into a tree.

The collision happened around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, on Donnell Lake Street, west of Lewis Lake, in Penn Township.

Upon arriving at the scene, Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the 22-year-old driver.

She was taken to Borgess Lee Hospital for injuries obtained in the crash.

Seatbelts were worn and alcohol was not a factor.
