The Elkhart Education Foundation wants you to break out the ugly sweaters this weekend for a great cause.

We spoke with Foundation Executive Director Charmaine Torma about the event, planned for Saturday at Nibco Water and Ice Park. You can hear that interview below.

The Ugly Sweater 5K Run and 1 Mile Sweater Stroll is a fun-filled event for the entire family. Even your leashed dog is welcome to join us (don’t forget your furry friend’s ugly sweater too!).

The race is a kickoff to Elkhart’s Winterfest. The 5K Run starts at 8:30 AM, the Sweater Stroll starts at 8:35am. Enjoy hot-chocolate and Christmas cookies at the finish line!  Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, top 3 overall Male/Female as well as fastest male and female in each of 15 age divisions!

All proceeds stay in Elkhart County to support teachers, staff and students in Elkhart Community Schools.
