Study claims PlayStation 5 is most in-demand Christmas gift this year

New study revealed the most in-demand item that each state wants to buy for Christmas with the PlayStation 5 taking the top spot.

The analysis revealed that Sony’s PlayStation 5 console had the highest number of states searching for it above any other item during this festive period, at thirteen. These states include Florida, Delaware, Texas and Utah.

Another console, the Nintendo Switch, was the second most in-demand item ahead of Christmas with ten states searching for it more than any other item, including New Jersey, Oregon, Iowa and Georgia.

A total of seven states are searching for an iPad the most, the third highest number in the research. States searching for iPads the most include Hawaii, Tennessee, Indiana and West Virginia.

Another Apple product makes the list with AirPods ranking as the fourth most in-demand item across America this Christmas. A total of six states searched for AirPods more than any other item with states including Kansas, Wyoming, North Carolina and Arizona.

The Xbox Series X console was the fifth most in-demand item for Christmas. A total of five states searched for it more than any other item – Connecticut, South Carolina, South Dakota, Massachusetts and Minnesota.

The Dyson Airwrap proved to be the most in-demand item in four states across the US; Alabama, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The item has gone viral on TikTok over the last year, with the hashtag #DysonAirwrap amassing 3.2 billion views on the platform.

The Apple MacBook was the most in-demand item in two states, making it the seventh most popular item this Christmas. The two states are Maryland and Vermont. The MacBook can come in two forms – MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

Three items were the most in-demand item in one state each respectively. An Apple Watch was the most searched for item in Nebraska, the Oculus headset was the most searched for item in Arkansas and the Samsung Galaxy watch was the most in-demand item in Maine.

This study was conducted by Rakuten, which offers coupons and cash-back services at more than 3,500 stores across the US.
