The Indiana DNR is hosting hikes in New Years Day throughout the state.

First Day Hikes will be offered at state parks, lakes, and some forests.

Indiana Dunes State Park will have a 2-mile moderate to rugged loop along Trail 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Snacks and a campfire will provided by the Friends of the Indiana Dunes.

Potatoe Creek State Park has a 1-mile hike at 2 p.m., starting at the Quaking Aspen parking lot. The hike will go around Worster Lake.

Pokagon State Park will have a 2.5-mile hike at 2 p.m., with refreshments and a bonfire offered afterward.

Chain O’Lake State Park will offer their hike starting at 11 a.m., starting at the Sand Lake Beach parking lot. There will be cookies and hot cocoa to look forward to.
