Governor Gretchen Whitmer has vowed to expand Michigan’s gun control laws during the 2023 legislative session.
She made the declaration during her swearing in ceremony at the capitol in Lansing, pledging to pass “Red Flag” gun confiscation, implement universal background checks, and mandate that all law-abiding gun owners lock up their personal firearms in the home.
Brenden Boudreau, Executive Director for Great Lakes Gun Rights, describes it as more draconian gun control laws. He says Red Flag laws shred the right to due process while also putting police and law-abiding citizens in dangerous situations… and that mandating Michigan residents to lock up their personal self-defense weapons while at home invites violent criminals in.
Whitmer is endorsed by the gun control advocacy group Moms Demand Action, which is largely funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Great Lakes Gun Rights is urging pro-gun Michigan residents to call their legislators and demand they oppose all gun control bills that will be introduced in the 2023 legislative cycle.
