An Auburn man faces two counts of attempted murder after a pursuit and standoff with an Auburn police officer and a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy.

During the pursuit, on Thursday, Jan. 5, investigators say Cory Carico fired multiple shots at officers from an AR-15 rifle at the officers.

He eventually drove into a field and fired more shots at officers before being detained by SWAT teams after a four-hour standoff. No officers were hurt.

Carico was arrested and charged with attempted murder, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
