Elkhart man arrested, leads police on chase in stolen car

An Elkhart man has been arrested leading police on a chase in a stolen car.
The chase began, late Monday afternoon, Jan. 9, when officers tried to pull over a Buick Regal stolen from the 900 block of Johnson Street.
The man behind the wheel took off down Beardsley Avenue, blew through a stop light, crash into a parked pickup truck, and kept going.
 The chase ended at State Road 23 and Capital Avenue when the driver rode over stop sticks.
The suspect, Mitchell Sigman, 38, had a woman and a child with him in the car during the chase.
He was arrested for on preliminary charges of possession of a auto theft, resisting, child neglect, leaving the scene of a crash and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
