A traffic stop in La Porte County resulted in an arrest on a methamphetamine charge on Monday, Jan. 9.
Reports say a deputy patrolling on the Indiana Toll Road was parked in the median near mile marker 48 shortly after 2 p.m. when he saw a vehicle with its front windows tinted so dark that the driver’s face could not be seen.
The deputy followed the vehicle and saw the driver allegedly make an improper lane change near mile marker 50.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over near mile marker 52. A K9 was brought to the stop and alerted to the smell of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Reports say a search of the passenger compartment resulted in deputies finding a bag of a white, crystal substance.
The driver was identified as Machelle Wooddall, 53, of Stockton, California. She was arrested on one count of possession of methamphetamine.
Wooddall is being held at the La Porte County Jail on a $20,005 cash bond.
