Three people charged in connection with deadly South Bend shooting

Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting in South Bend that claimed a woman’s life.
It was just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, when South Bend Police were called to the 800 block of Ashland Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Rachel Havrick, 46, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Havrick was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through an investigation and the processing of evidence by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, three suspects were identified, located and ultimately arrested.
Ddrea Bostic, 25, and Devon Briggs, 20, are each charged with murder, two counts of felony murder, burglary, robbery and a firearm enhancement. Erica Elie, 30, is charged with two counts of assisting a criminal.
All three suspects are currently at the St. Joseph County Jail. This remains an active and ongoing investigation by our Violent Crimes Unit.

It’s only the 11th day of the year with Several shootings and deaths. No wonder the city of South Bend ranks very high in crime. Not a place to raise a family.
