Former St. Joe County officer arrested after OWI crash still allowed to drive

The former St. Joseph County Police officer arrested after allegedly driving under the influence and crashing his patrol car into a mailbox will be able to get behind the wheel.

During a hearing on Friday, Jan. 20, a judge determined Coty Hoffman can continue to drive, as long as the vehicle is equipped with an ignition interlock with a breathalyzer attached.

Hoffman was arrested after the collision in November and resigned from his job earlier this month.

He’s due back in court in March.
