Teen murder suspect attempts escape in Kalamazoo

A teenaged murder suspect in Kalamazoo County is accused of an escape attempt.

Kahree Louis Compton was arraigned Monday on one felony count of escape from a juvenile facility, after a partial escape that happened on Dec. 23. Compton was previously arraigned on one felony count of open murder and one count of felony firearms.

MLive reports that Compton allegedly threw a cup of water in the face of a juvenile home employee, which caused her to drop the keys to his cell. Compton allegedly picked up the keys and escaped his cell, making it to the courtyard that leads outside of the facility.

He’s scheduled for a probable cause conference in the homicide case on Jan. 31. He is scheduled for a probable cause conference in the attempted escape case on Feb. 2.
