The Goshen City Council has tabled a vote on a stormwater user fee increase.
The Greater Elkhart County Stormwater Partnership Advisory Board recommended a user fee increase over three phases.
The Goshen News reports the first year – this year if passed before March 1st – would be $22 per year for residents — rising to $36 in 2029. The increase would allow Goshen to work on drainage issues and other maintenance issues.
However, Council member Don Riegsecker said while the $7 increase for homeowners could be doable, manufacturers would be impacted much more, so he suggested the issue be tabled.
A majority of councilmembers agreed and the issue is on hold until at least February 6th.
