The man was standing in the roadway near a disabled vehicle after the driver of that car, a 28-year-old woman from Elkhart, struck an embankment.

A second vehicle along Calvin Center Road, driven by a 38-year-old Cassopolis man was trying to avoid the first traffic crash, but lost control of his vehicle and struck the victim.

The Three Rivers man was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says  drugs and alcohol were not considered factors.
