Police pursuit of stolen car in Goshen ends with crash, driver hospitalized

A pursuit of a stolen car ended with a crash and the suspect driver rushed to the hospital.

Goshen Police were notified around 11:15 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, about a stolen vehicle that was spotted in the parking lot of a gas station in the 4500 block of Elkhart Road.

Goshen Police and Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and attempted to stop a Kia that was stolen out of Berrien Springs. The vehicle fled on Elkhart Road towards Elkhart.

Goshen Police Officers followed the vehicle in an attempt to stop it. Minutes after the chase began, the Kia was involved in a crash with another vehicle and hit a tree at the intersection of Hively Avenue and Prairie Street in Elkhart.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was trapped inside the car and had to be extracted from the vehicle.

He was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit arrived on scene to assist with the investigation.

He must be the stupid criminal of the month. What about the unfortunate person that got their vehicle stolen and totaled ? I wonder if the car thief has good health insurance for his hospital visit.
