Elkhart man sentenced to 120 months for weapons offense

An Elkhart man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for a weapons offense.
Toby Ray Taylor, 36, was sentenced in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents, Police tried to pull over Taylor, who had an outstanding parole warrant. Taylor tried to flee but was apprehended. Police recovered a handgun under the driver’s seat which was loaded, had an extended magazine and an obliterated serial number. They also found Meth and marijuana in the car.
Because Taylor has a prior felony conviction he was prohibited from possessing firearms.
