A 16-year-old boy charged in adult court for the shooting death of one person and the injury shooting of another has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Most of the time that A’Quan Irons will spend behind bars is for the November 2021 murder of 21-year-old Sai’Von Jackson.
Five of the years ordered are for an aggravated battery charge. An attempted robbery charge was dropped in exchange with the plea.
Jackson died after he was shot at point-blank range during what was supposed to be a marijuana transaction.
The shooting happened in broad daylight on Elwood Avenue near Lasalle Intermediate Academy.
A 25-year-old man was also injured in the shooting.

If Indiana had legalize marijuana years ago, chances are this crime would have never taken place.
Um, NO. There will always be another drug to move on to and criminals will always be criminals.
Do you really think criminals selling illegal drug X will not move on to selling illegal drug Y if X is made legal? Where’s the profit in that? Do you really think illegal drug users will not just move on to illegal drug Y for a greater high?
The Fentinol crisis is a crisis of the willing.
