Elkhart County Court officer sustains moderate injury after discharging firearm at Goshen Courthouse

An Elkhart County Court Security Officer sustained a moderate injury after he discharged his firearm at the Courthouse in Goshen.
It happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.
The preliminary information shows that 23-year-old Officer Joshua Troup was in the security office and was putting his firearm into his holster when the fireamr went off, striking his foot.
Troup was treated and released at Goshen Hospital.
Court operations were not disrupted during the incident.  The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Investigation and Administrative divisions are investigating.
