Baroda man dies in police custody

A Baroda man died in police custody on Wednesday.

The Michigan State Police are investigating the death of the 49 year-old, who allegedly ran from law enforcement in the area of Pipestone Township north of Eau Claire.

Officials say Josh Tanner of Baroda fled on foot when officers arrived to investigate a reported domestic violence incident. Troopers used a K9 and a taser to take him into custody.

Several minutes later, while leading him out of the woods, the suspect suffered a medical emergency and become unresponsive. He died a short time later at a hospital. Autopsy results are pending.
