Niles man pleads guilty, sentenced to probation, jail

A Niles man pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon and was sentenced to probation and jail.

61-year-old Joseph Lewis was sentenced to two years probation, 300 days in jail with credit for 207 days served, and $1,698 in fines and costs.

The incident happened back in September last year.

According to Leader Publications, the victim mentioned in court that she is afraid to go out in public and feels hopeless.

After an apology from Lewis, Judge Smith told him that he was “very, very close” to going to prison.
