Cass County Road Commission to accept used tires, solid waste during free drop-off day

April 26 is used tire and solid waste drop off day in Cass County. The county’s Road Commission is accepting items from 3 until 6 in the afternoon at their headquarters at 340 North O’Keefe Street in Cassopolis. Residents can also drop off up to 300 pounds of hazardous waste at no charge. Electronics, small appliances, metal items and anything steel will be accepted, as well as flags and eyeglasses. Residents must bring proof of residence with them in order to drop off items for free.
The following items cannot be taken:
Semi tires
Tractor tires
Refrigerators
Washing machines
Air conditioners
Dehumidifiers
Fireworks
Used motor oil
Fire extinguishers
Ammunition
Biohazards
Propane tanks larger than 20 pounds
Latex paint is not hazardous and can be discarded at the event. Event organizers recommend letting the paint dry out before disposing it.
All collected tires will be taken to a tire recycling facility near Sturgis.
