Man, 29, arrested in connection with Hiawatha Drive, Elkhart shooting

Elkhart Police Department detectives arrested Navneet Singh, 29 years old of Elkhart, for attempted murder in connection with a shooting investigation in the 800 block of Hiawatha Drive.

He allegedly shot a 31-year-old woman before allegedly shooting himself, according to Elkhart Police.

After medical clearance, officers transported Singh to the Elkhart County Jail where he was booked on a preliminary charge of attempted murder. The arrest has been submitted to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of formal criminal charges.

As previously released, on April 20, 2023, at approximately 12:59 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a caller regarding two wounded individuals observed on a porch in the 800 block of Hiawatha Drive.

Elkhart officers and first responders were dispatched and arrived shortly thereafter.

Upon arrival, officers observed Singh and the woman with apparent gunshot wounds.

First responders rendered first aid and transported both individuals to local hospitals.

At last update, the female victim was in stable condition at the hospital and expected to survive.
